This article from the March/April 2011 issue of Healthcare Executive describes how Ochsner Health System developed a new care model for its medical-surgical nursing units to address such problems as excessive lengths of stay, escalating costs, and low patient and staff satisfaction levels. The article shows how Ochsner used software tools to dynamically simulate multiple care scenarios to efficiently create a new model that met their objectives for value-based, outcome-focused care.
