In building its new 656-bed acute care hospital, Humber River Regional Hospital (HRRH) saw the opportunity to align optimal workflow processes with optimal architectural design. HRRH engaged the Care Design team from GE Healthcare Performance Solutions to develop a future-state layout that would enhance clinical workflow using Lean methodologies, simulation technologies and clinical expertise. This case study shows how HRRH was able to efficiently and effectively evaluate multiple care space layouts before committing to a new facility design that will reduce staff travel by 20% and increase the efficiency of care delivery by 30%.
