Designing a new care space can be stressful. But when it's an Emergency Department that will be the size of a big-box retail store and treat more than 100,000 patients a year, the challenge is particularly complex. This case study provides a behind-the-scenes look at the planning process for the new Humber River Regional Hospital (HRRH) ED and how the Care Design team from GE Healthcare Performance Solutions  helped HRRH develop a future-state ED layout using Lean workflow principles and sophisticated simulation modeling.
