Providing care for just under 40,000 patient visits a year, USC Norris Cancer Center and Hospital is an acknowledged leader in cancer research. It has also been an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center since the National Cancer Institute selected the first eight in 1973 - an honor that underscores its scientific excellence and commitment to developing and delivering more effective approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. With hundreds of clinical trials underway at any given time, plus expansion in multi-disciplinary programs, USC Norris is meeting the growing demand for cancer services. To accommodate further anticipated growth, the organization is planning to build an additional outpatient facility by 2014; but given the current pace of recruitment for new medical and surgical oncology specialists, the Norris leadership team decided they needed to do more with their current clinic space. Read how USC Norris Cancer Center has improved capacity to further accommodate access for patients through clinic schedule optimization.
